PROJEK MATEMATIK TAMBAHAN TAHUN 2012(TINGKATAN 5)....

PROJEK  MATEMATIK   TAMBAHAN   TAHUN   2012(TINGKATAN 5)....

Guidelines for the Implementation of Additional Mathematics Project Work
Form 5
2012
(Student’s Edition)

  1. Every student taking Additional Mathematics in Form 5 is required to carry out a project work.

  1. The aims of carrying out this project work are to :
i)        develop mathematical knowledge in a way which increases students’ interest and confidence;
ii)      apply mathematics to everyday situations and to begin to understand the part that mathematics plays in the world in which we live;
iii)    improve thinking skills and promote effective mathematical communication;
iv)    assist students to develop positive attitude and personalities, intrinsic mathematical values such as accuracy, confidence and systematic reasoning;
v)      stimulate learning and enhance effective learning.

  1. Project work can be done in groups or individually but each student is expected to submit an individually written report which includes the following:
·         Report Presentation
Ø  General Aspect
Ø  Introduction

·         Task Specification
Ø  Specify the task

·         Problem Solving
Ø  Procedure
Ø  Findings
Ø  Exploration

·         Conclusions

  1. Students are given three weeks to carry out the project. The written report must be submitted by the end of the third week.

  1. The task and the rubric are to be distributed to the students together with the guidelines. Teachers need to discuss with their students regarding the guidelines and the contents of the rubric. Teachers need to guide their students in the process of carrying out the project. However, teachers are reminded not to give the solution to their students.

  1. Project work can be done in groups or individually but each student is expected to submit an individually written report which includes the following:

  1. Students are given three weeks to carry out the project. The written report must be submitted by the end of the third week.

  1. It is suggested that this project work should contribute 10% of the marks for the trial examination in Form 5.

  1. Teachers are to mark the written report according to the rubric. The solution provided is only a brief guideline. Teachers are reminded that students are required to present a complete report with effective mathematical communication.

  1. Oral presentation by the students is encouraged.

  1. Certificates are awarded to students who submit their written reports. Certificates are awarded based on the following grades.

Score
Grade
80 – 100
Excellent
60 – 79
Good
40 – 59
Satisfactory
20 – 39
Achieved minimum requirements
